Kitchen Crafts for Cranky Campers Woody and his family were on a spring camping trip, but unlike most trips, Woody and his sisters and brothers weren’t having any fun. The weather during this RV trip was cold and wet. It had rained and rained and rained and rained, and the weatherman forecasted even more rain. “I’m bored,” said Woody’s sister. “I’m really bored,” said Woody’s brother. “I’m really, really bored,” said Woody. Woody’s mom and dad had to admit, they were also a little bored. “Wait! I have an idea,” said Woody’s mother. “When I was little, my mother made clay from flour, salt and water, and we had a really good time making little animals.” “Now, I remember,” said Woody’s father. “My dad helped me make paper-maché objects from flour, water and old newspapers.” “Well,” said Woody’s mother, “We have all those things right here in our RV. Why don’t we have a special kitchen craft party on this rainy-day afternoon?” And so, Woody’s whole family sat down at the table and started to play. Woody’s dad was very good at making animals from clay balls and ropes. And Woody’s mom found some empty soup cans and a few old plastic containers for the children to cover with paper-maché. At the end of the afternoon, everyone agreed, that they had a lot of fun.” “Wow!” said Woody. “I didn’t know rainy days could be so much fun. Here are Woody’s recipes for kitchen clay and paper-maché, and some ideas to get you started.” |
